This course will discuss the normal postpartum care within a midwifery practice. The student will develop and understanding of what is normal and abnormal and will be empowered to properly assess and support a mother and her newborn in recovery.

This course will discuss the benefits, establishment and complications of breastfeeding as well as variations of the normal newborn/maternal breastfeeding relationship.

This course will educate students about the various supplemental and supporting therapies to midwifery care: homeopathy, pharmacology, herbalism, ayurveda, eastern medicine and others. The concept of collaborative care between modalities will be encouraged.
